Top 9 Most Played Songs on My iPod as of January 2013

I have been meeting a lot of new people the past few weeks, and they are always shocked that anyone could spend so much time working out. Heck, I don’t even spend that much time workout out compared to some! One of their first questions is always, “What do you think about when you are running or biking for hours?” I usually answer with something about a recap of the day, or nothing…or sometime I talk out loud to myself and work through all of my crazy thoughts. Sometimes during really tough workouts I like to think of mean names to call my coaches and all the angry things I want to say to them—then the workout is over and everything is fine again.

Their next question is usually, “do you listen to music? What kind of music do you listen to? What gets you through the long workouts?” That is a very good question, because I love all music. But I figured out this would be a good time to check out my iPod and see what my top 9 most played songs are. Why 9? I don’t know, it just sounds like a round number to me. I haven’t actually looked in a while, so this could be interesting for all. So, here we go.

9. The Pig—Showbread
This has been one of my favorite bands since jr high. This whole album is actually really good. It is definitely an acquired sound, but it’s a sound I like!

8. Roses—Outkast
I used to get in trouble for listening to this song in junior high, because it was "bad". Okay, so there may be a few “bad” words in it, but they bleeped them out on the TV. How was I supposed to know they didn’t do that on the CD? Really though, what was there not to like about Speakerboxxx/The Love Below?

7.  Roll With Me—Montgomery Gentry
I love country music, and this is definitely one of my favorite country songs. The line, “Who knows what’s up ahead, I think I'd rather not know instead” is probably my favorite part of the song. Every day is a gift and an adventure!

6. Supernatural—Flyleaf
I have always liked this song, and although it is not a “pump up” song, it is my 6th most played.  This song is also special to me, because it is the song I listened to on repeat for days when my high school track coach (JP) died. He was an amazing man, and I would not have the love of running/racing/training if it were not for him!

5.  The Sharpest Lives--My Chemical Romance
My Chemical Romance has been one of my favorite bands since Headfirst for Halos come out. Great band. Great songs. Great workouts!

4. HYFR—Drake
What can I say about this? It’s Just a fun song and video. Really though, Take Care is one of my favorite albums—I am surprised there are not more songs from Take Care in my top 7!

3.  I’ll Be Missing You--Puff Daddy
I remember when I heard this song for the first time like it was yesterday.

2. Edge of Seventeen—Stevie Nicks
I was shocked this was my #2 most played. I mean I love the song and Stevie, but I didn’t think it would make it into my top 10. I like Stevie’s solo stuff, and I also like Fleetwood Mac.
So, what is my most played song? Heck, I am slightly embarrassed this is my most played song—but the numbers don’t lie. Here it is.

1. Dance (A$$) Remix—Big Sean ft. Nicki Minaj
            No comment.

Now that I have done a top 9 most played songs, I may have to do a top 5 favorite bands sometime.  Only 2 of 9 songs came from top 5 favorite bands. I am actually rather surprised at my top 9.

What are your top 5 (or 9) most played songs?
